29 and alone again?
I’m not such a fan of Facebook’s targeted advertising. Almost every time I visit the site, I see this ad.

“29 and alone again?” it asks. Yes, I am. Thanks for rubbing it in.
Are they really trying to get me to click on their ad? If so, they may want to try a different approach, because the broken heart and off-putting question just aren’t doing it for me. Besides, when I read the fine print, I realize that it technically doesn’t apply to me. “If you’ve had a man suddenly pull away, then read this.” Sorry, Facebook, but I’ve always been the heartbreaker, not the other way around.
I hate that ad. When I log on to Facebook and see pictures of my friends with their spouses and kids, I really don’t need to see an ad reminding me that I’m still single. So tonight I did what any self-respecting 29-year-old single woman would do. I clicked on the thumbs-down button. I felt powerful. I wasn’t sure what would happen next, but a window popped up and requested more information.
I selected the “offensive” option. Goodbye, icky Facebook ad.

That add must be targeted to women. I’ve never seen it. The add that I constantly see on Facebook shows a good looking young woman, wearing a tanktop and short shorts, reclining on her bed. The caption reads, “lets hang out at singlesnet”
So far we haven’t hung out……
These ad folks think they have us all figured out.

The sad thing is that these ads apparently generate some traffic, or they wouldn’t continue to advertise…
